Musical Influences: Nowadays, my favorite singer-songwriter is Ray Lamontagne. There are a lot of great bands in Texas that have inspired me. Kirk Baxley is my favorite singer/performer of all musicians.

Favorite male pop artists? Ray Lamontagne.

Favorite female pop artists? Kelly Clarkson.

When did you first start to sing? I was in choir in 5th grade, then never again until my freshman year of college.

Do you have any formal singing training? No.

What other talents do you have? I play drums, guitar and love any artistic stuff like drawing, painting, building...and soccer.

What is your most embarassing moment?
The freshest in my mind is Hollywood Week final day: my song was a disaster.

Do you have any rituals or things you do before you perform?
I pray and then visualize my stellar performance and go through it silently and visually. I get pumped and jump around/stretch.

What album would your friends be surprised you own?
Oh gosh...there's a lot of those...well, my friends wouldn't be, but other people would. Hanson, Andrea Bocelli, Taylor Swift.

What are your personal goals in life?
To be a loving father, a faithful husband and a servant of all.

If you don't make it on American Idol, what will you do?
Go to school maybe? Maybe...

Do you have any lucky charms?
Lucky pennies in my shoes.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I'd rather sleep on the ground than in a bed and I shower in flip-flops.
Who is your favorite judge and why?
Simon -- he's brutally honest.

If you couldn't sing, which talent would you most like to have?
Play an instrument/dance.

What has been your proudest moment in life so far?
Making it this far in the competition.

What's been your toughest obstacle in life?
A broken heart has been the toughest obstacle. No good. Never again.

Do you think the audition process was fair?
Yes, very.

What has been your favorite "Idol" moment in the past six years?
I remember seeing Jack Black once. I like him a lot. He's funny. Haha.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I wouldn't mind being a little taller...or a straighter nose. Haha.

How do you plan on differentiating yourself in the competition?
I think we are all very different, so just being me will be the key.
